Astros Opening Day

The Astros are now in the American League so we played the Rangers for Opening Day tonight. My dad got season tickets this year so it's an exciting year for two reasons. We've never had season to tickets for baseball (just football) so this is pretty exciting. Summer time is coming up and nothing's better than baseball games, beer, and hot dogs on a beautiful summer day.

Happy Birthday Benjamin Mason!

Our friends Casey and Stephen welcomed their second son Benjamin this morning. He was 8 pounds, 6 ounces and 21.5 inches long. He is absolutely beautiful. Now my baby fever is quickly getting worse.

The dogs were going crazy this morning so Rex went to see what was up. Turns out it was a little kitten hiding in a bush. She was so cute and tiny we just had to bring her in. So we put her in the bathroom so the dogs wouldn't eat her. I tried to give her food and water but she wouldn't take it. I tried to find her a good home but didn't so we gave her to one of our neighbors who has cats. I am so not a cat person! And proud of it.

Another Beautiful Day At Jack Brooks Park

Rex's friend Mark called him this morning and asked if we wanted to play disc golf. Since we both had the day off, we did. He even brought us muffins from Starbucks for breakfast. He's a really nice guy.

For dinner we made black beans and rice with chicken. Yum!

I'm not usually a big fan of IPA's but this IPL was really good. Way to go Sam.

I Made Dinner

I know that doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment to most people. But to me it is since Rex and I usually just meet up for dinner after work and grab something quick.

Yesterday my mom bought me a cooking magazine and I saw a recipe that looked pretty good. We already had all the ingredients we needed so that was a plus. Also, it was actually under the "kids meals" section so it was super simple and quick. Rex helped me chop veggies while I cooked the noodles and made the sauce. It's so nice having a man that helps cook. And he cleans up immediately. Love him to pieces.

Family Day & A Trip to the ER

Originally I was supposed to go to the Bayou City Art Festival with my dad today. Instead, we decided to stay closer to home an go to the Clear Lake Crawfish Festival. Turns out the crawfish festival was yesterday so we just stayed at my parents house and hung out with my nieces. 

Rex and I left to get something and when we got back my brothers tells us that my parents went to the hospital. Apparently my dad was breaking a bone in half so each of my dogs could have some and a piece of bone stabbed him in his right hand. It was bleeding really bad and when he washed it off he realized how deep it really was. So my mom took him to the urgent care to get stitches.

While we were waiting for my parents to get back I took it upon myself to cook dinner for everyone. My brother took care of the steaks and the grilling and I took care of the chicken. They wanted to grill the chicken but I think it turns out too dry and I'm not a huge fan of BBQ sauce so I decided to bake the chicken. It turned out really good. I'm so proud of myself.
