In Memory of Granny ♥

This past weekend Rex and I went on a mini road trip to Ennis for his Granny's memorial. She passed away on the 21st of December so they held it on the Saturday after Christmas.

We drove up there in the morning and showed up 15 min late. Thankfully, we didn't miss his mother's and brother's eulogy. It was really sad. His granny was an awesome lady and I wish I had gotten to spend more time with her.

After the memorial we went to her house to hang out and have a few beers with the family.

This is an awesome tree at a church on the way to Granny's house.

I made Rex stop and take pictures of me on it.

When we got to Granny's we immediately started playing a game called Cards Against Humanity with his cousins. Best. Game. Ever.

We had a great time. I love my new family. Cousins are the best.

We stayed the night there in a room with a closet that Rex refers to as "the dungeon". It was so funny. He didn't want to sleep in that room because he was scared. Haha, just like when he was a little kid.

The next morning I went outside and snapped a few pictures of Granny's backyard.

It must have been so much fun playing back here as a kid..

We grabbed some lunch at Applebee's and headed back to Houston. It was a good trip. It makes me want to spend more time with Rex's cousins. They're awesome.

Our First Christmas

This Christmas is extra special because its our first Christmas as husband and wife! And it's our niece Emily's first Christmas on earth. We all celebrated at my parents house and my aunt and cousins from Austin came and stayed a few days. It was good to hang out with my cousins. I love them so much and we always have the best time together.

Emily! Love her!!

There were so many gifts. It was insane!

My favorite gift was this ornament from my mom.

My mom also got all us girls onesies!! We loved them.

And we look adorable in them, obviously.

My parents also got Rex and I a new TV. Rex was pretty excited about it.

My cousin Rachel made us a dream cathcher. It's so pretty. It has seashells, sand dollars, and seagull feathers. So beachy - just like us!

My cousin's daughter, Brooke.

Madison wearing my flip flops.

Mya loved her gift from me. She is adorable!

She fell asleep like this while we were in the garage. She's so funny.

All in all it was an awesome Christmas!

Bad Bad Luck

Recently Rex and I have experienced some bad luck. First, we missed our honeymoon because I couldn't find my passport. Then, we get an apartment and had to deal with bugs before we could move in. This past Tuesday, my car got booted downtown while at work because I had three unpaid parking tickets. I had to pay $468 and I didn't think things could get any worse. Well yesterday Rex went to get his oil changed and they informed us that the previous place had broken something (I don't know cars at all but something was broken and needed to be replaced) and it was going to cost $750 just for the labor and who knows how much for the part. And to top it all off it's four days till Christmas and I haven't bought a single present.

Damn. I really hate money. You work so hard for it just to give it all away.

The story of the proposal

When Rex was in army boot camp we wrote each other letters every day. In one of those letters Rex expressed his desire to marry me. We hadn't been together that long but being away from him was the hardest thing ever. So I wrote back saying how much I wanted to marry him too.

When he got stationed it was bittersweet. Yes he was in Hawaii which was awesome, but he was on a small island in the middle of the Pacific which was really far and expensive to get to. Luckily he bought me a ticket during the winter since its cheaper and I went and stayed for a week in January of 2009.

On the last full day of my trip it happened. We went snorkeling in Waimea Bay, walked around Waikiki, took a nap on the beach, then went out for dinner. After dinner he pulled out a blue box and revealed a beautiful diamond ring. He took it out and put it on my finger. I wasn't really super surprised since I knew he had bought the ring already (he's horrible at keeping secrets) but it was still exciting.

He never officially said the words, "will you marry me? And I never said, "oh my God, yes!" and made a huge scene. So it wasn't super romantic or cliche like I had always imagined it would be but it was exactly how it needed to happen for us. We hugged and kissed and I couldn't stop smiling. The next day I flew home and three and a half years later we were married.

Last Night

I had a horrible dream. I dreamed that I had a baby but couldn't remember actually giving birth. In my dream I was crying hysterically and asking everyone who was there to tell me what happened so I could try to remember. I couldn't remember anything and it was killing me. Another weird thing was that my baby was a toddler dressed in boys clothing but his/her toe nails were pink. They told me it was a girl but I only had boy stuff to put on her.

I think I had this dream because I really want to have a baby boy. I also want it to be a surprise and have the baby at home in water. That's the plan as of now.

It was all very weird and a little frightening. One day, when I do have a baby, I'm gonna make sure I can remember it. And remember to bring a video camera... just in case.

The Rehearsal

Since I was so late to the rehearsal and dinner the night before the wedding we weren't able to practice we just ate dinner. So the day of my wedding, hours before it started, everyone went outside to practice on the beach. Our pastor told me that it was "bad luck for the bride to be at the rehearsal" and since I was so tired and still had to shower, I didn't go. I regret that now. I needed to be there to make sure everything was right and in order. For some reason Rex wasn't speaking up so the pastor took control and told everyone the order to get in. The order was totally wrong and the maids flowers didn't match up with the groomsmen's flowers like they were supposed to. Whatever. I don't sweat the small stuff.

New apartment. Kill me now.

Just when I thought everything was going great. Shit happens. But I will survive. I have my rock. My husband. My soulmate. That's all I need.

The story of my engagement ring

When Rex purposed in Hawaii he gave me a beautiful diamond ring. I loved it. I wore it everyday for three years.

Until April 2012.

Apparently, I had taken off my ring to put product in my hair. Well I took it off and forgot to put it back on immediately. We went out that night to Boondoggles and got really trashed. Two days later when I finally noticed my left ring finger was bare I freaked out and searched everywhere for it. But it was no where to be found in Rex's house. I searched everywhere! To this day I have no idea what happened to it or if someone found it and took it. When we finally decided on a date for the wedding and started to plan it I got so upset about not having an engagement ring. Seriously, who wears an engagement ring for three years and loses it months before the wedding? Only me.

To my surprise my wonderful husband surprised me with a second proposal and a second ring a few weeks before the wedding. He went out and bought me a cheap one because he knew how much I wanted to have one. I didn't care at all what it looked like or how small it was. I had an engagement ring on my finger once again so I was happy.

I still wish I had my old ring back. It was so beautiful and special to me.

Today we moved our bed to the apartment and slept there, in our new apartment, as a married couple. Wow. So today we are moving in everything else.

Wedding Crashers

Our wedding was so beautiful and awesome that we had two groups of crashers.

First, I saw this guy in a red hat walking around and I knew he wasn't invited. I grabbed Rex and went up to him and his friend. I was like, "Hey, we don't know you. What are you doing?" and he replied with, "Yeah, we were invited by some guy. We are staying at that house two doors down." Hmmm. I was skeptical but since we are really cool  (and there was a possibility that someone we knew actually had invited them) we went ahead and let them stay for awhile.

Rex's cousin Kim with the crashers:

Later, my uncle comes up to me and says there's a surprise for me at the fire. I walk over there and see a guy dressed like Captain Jack Sparrow. After he kissed my hand he insisted I punch him in his cod piece. I did. It. was. hilarious.

This is him blowing his horn as loud and as long as he could. Such a nice gift.

Haha. He was tiny.

Yeah, the pictures are blurry because I was using my phone.

We Should Be On Our Honeymoon

But alas we are not. For two reasons. One being Carnival employees are incompetent. And the other reason is because I am incompetent and couldn't find my passport the day we were supposed to leave.

We never intended on going on a honeymoon because we couldn't afford it. But two weeks before the wedding my dad called and said he was getting us tickets for a cruise out of Galveston.
