Lazy Daze
Since Rex is out of town and so are my parents I invited my friend to spend the night with me last night. All we did was sit around and eat junk food and watch trashy tv. Today all we did was sit around and eat and watch tv. I can't wait until Rex comes back. He keeps me on track.

Happy Birthday My Love!
This is the second time since we've been together that I haven't been with Rex on his birthday. He couldn't care less about his birthday so that kinda makes me feel better. But I still wish I could be there with him as he celebrates the last birthday of his twenties. Oh well. Next year I'm throwing him a huge party and we most definitly be together!

An Evening With Coleton
My cousin Jamie and her son Coleton flew in from Massachusetts last night so today after work I went to my grandmother's house to visit with them. This kid is the sweetest little boy. He was having so much fun playing with cars and playing hide-and-seek with me. After dinner I felt really queasy. Jamie was convinced I was sick because I'm pregnant.. Who knows? I think it was just the food.

He's Gone Again
Rex left again today. But this time for a week and I'm not going to be with him on his birthday this Friday. It makes me really sad. This is the second time we've been apart on his birthday. He says he doesn't care and that we can celebrate his birthday when he gets back but that's not the same thing. My parents are out of town also so I'm watching their dog Honey which means I'm home alone with four dogs. I am officially a crazy dog lady. My cousin said she would come down and stay with me at my parents house. They have a huge empty house with plenty of beds and cable TV. This week is going to be a rough one.

We Discovered A New Park
On the way home from my parents house I stopped to let the dogs run around and play at a small park I had never been to before. It was really nice. There were big trees and a wooden walkway through the wooded area. I wish I had taken more pictures because it really was a beautiful park. I will definitely be bringing the dogs back here in the future.

Grillin' Lobster Tails
I sent Rex to do the grocery shopping today since I wasn't feeling well. He came home with four lobster tails. So, we threw them on the grill along with some chicken, tomatoes, and orange peppers. Tomatoes and peppers have got to be my favorite vegetable to cook on the grill. They're so delicious when you eat them together.

Rex is Home!
It's bittersweet though since he has to leave again next week. But this time it will be for a week and I'll miss his birthday. I don't want to think about it too much because it makes me really sad. He doesn't really care about his birthday (he's weird like that) but I do. I wish I could go with him but I have to work and I have four dogs to take care of. My three and my parents dog, Honey. They're going to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic tomorrow with a few friends so I got stuck watching their dog. After I picked him up from the airport we went and grabbed dinner at our usual Friday night spot then went home to relax and watch a movie together. I'm so happy to have him back!

This guy misses his dad
Otis is really missing Rex. He slept on a pile of his dirty clothes last night. All day he laid in front of the front door just waiting for Rex to walk in. We are all ready for dad to come home. It's so much better when he's around. Thank God he comes home tomorrow!

Jamie's Comin' To Town
I found out today that my cousin Jamie from Massachusetts is coming to Texas for her yearly summer trip. They fly in on the 27th and leave on September 14th. I'm so excited to see her and her son, Coleton. I think I may even reveal my secret while she's here. Maybe on Labor Day.

We Have a Secret
It's very exciting but we don't want to say anything just yet. Rex is going out of town for work tomorrow so that's never fun for me. I miss him so much when he's away. I'm going to start brainstorming and planning now so when he gets back I will have everything in order. Thank you Lord for your blessings. We are eternally grateful.

Summertime Sunday
This afternoon I met my family at the Lakewood Yacht Club for an early dinner. Afterwards, we all went to see "We're The Millers". It was really funny. A good wholesome family comedy.

Chuck E. Cheese with my Nieces
We ate pizza and played tons of games. Madison was being so funny. She would put a token in the machine, play the game for like 10 seconds, then walk away. Watching those two beautiful girls grow up is truly a wonderful feeling. I cannot wait to *one day* have little babies of my own.

Flashback Friday
I took this picture of Rex two years ago. It was the first time I ever went out to take pictures of him surfing. I was playing with the manual focus and honestly got this shot by total accident. I love how the water droplets are so large and in focus. It's one of those pictures that you can just feel. Like you can imagine yourself there at the end of the jetty. At least that's how I see it.

Saint Arnold Brewing Company
My boss is awesome and let me leave work to meet Rex at the brewery. My office is literally two minutes away from the brewery so it was basically a lunch break. While we were sitting there playing dominos two of Rex's friends randomly showed up and brought the game Apples to Apples so then we all played that. If you've never played it before it can be fun but I'm not huge fan of it.

Best Friends
Usually, Otis stays at Rex's parent's house since we are only allowed to have two dogs in our apartment. But recently we said "screw the rules" and we've had him here. Rex loves having him around. They're best friends, he says.

My J.O.B.
Some days are better than others. Usually Mondays are the worst but today was actually one of the good ones. Right now I'm working as an assistant for a criminal attorney who owns his own practice. I'm his only employee and sometimes I get really annoyed with him and the things he asks me to do. It's nothing creepy just silly things like rotating the wheels on his rollerblades. When I got there today he made me sing into this new karaoke app he bought for $40/year (he's totally crazy, I know). I cannot sing for the life of me and I absolutely hate the way I sound when I record myself but I sang "yellow" by Coldplay anyways and got a score of 335. I'm not sure if that's good or bad but I assume its bad. After that we got in his truck and drove to his haircut appointment. While he was doing that I ran to the bank for him real quick. After that it was off to find a car wash. Inside the car wash place was a little restaurant. We grabbed some lunch there and played on our phones until his truck was ready. Once back at the office we did some actual work. I organized a binder for court tomorrow and put away all the loose papers that were lying around everywhere. Then I took out the trash and we called it a day. The drive home was the worst part of the day. I live in the 'burbs and work downtown so traffic was horrendous. I get so annoyed with people on their phones. Not so much people talking on their phone but the people who look down at their phones and ride the brake. I cannot stand that. When I was finally home I was able to relax and order delivery so I didn't have to cook. Now I'm watching tv and trying to get sleepy.
So that was my day... just a typical boring Monday.

Honey
Since my parents are out of town I'm dog sitting their Yorkie, Honey. They watch my dogs when we're out of town so it was our pleasure to return the favor. She's a good dog for the most part. My only problem with her is walking her. She's used to living in a house where she was let out rather than walked. When you put a leash on her she freaks out. Maybe she thinks she's going to the vet or the groomers and that's why she hates it, I don't know. So I pretty much have to let her out in my apartment complex and hope she comes back when she's done.

My Sister Leaves Tomorrow
I'm so sad. I'm going to miss her so much. It was really nice having her here this summer. We didn't do as much stuff as I wanted to but it was still fun. Of course she waited until the last day to start packing so I went over to my parents tonight and helped her. She has so much clothes it's ridiculous. Luckily, she let me take whatever I wanted.

The Whole Porter Pack
This is our dog pack. The two boys were Rex's and the two girls were mine. But now they're all ours.
I got Emma in 2007, a few days before my twentieth birthday. My sister and I were driving home from my dads office and we saw a sign that said 'dalmatian puppies'. We had a dog at the time but we stopped to look anyways. It was a nice old lady with a few small puppies and two dalmatian puppies in the bed of her truck. As soon as I saw Emma I knew I had to have her. She was just sitting there with the cutest black spot over one of her eyes (looking back now I should have gotten both of them). I asked the lady "how much" and she said "$75". I wasn't working at the time since I was in school and I knew my parents wouldn't buy a puppy for me so I called my boyfriend at the time and convinced him to buy me a puppy for my birthday that was a few days later. I picked up the money from him and went back to pick up my new puppy. Once I had her in my arms I was in love! She was beautiful, calm and so sweet. She laid on my lap the whole way to Petsmart where we went to get her a collar, leash, toys and food. I took her home and hid her from my parents for two days.
A year after I got Emma my parents got Mya. They were really sad after their dog passed away so they got a new puppy from one of my dads clients. When she turned out to be bigger and more energetic than they expected they wanted to get rid of her. My dad called the city pound and made an appointment to take her in the following Tuesday. I was so attached already so I could not let him take her. Tuesday morning I put her in my car and drove to my best friends house and begged her to take care of my puppy for me until I got my own place. Thankfully she did! She took care of my Mya Bear for five months until I got my first apartment.
Rex got Otis in 2006 while working in Arkansas. He was remodeling a motel and the owners had a small dog in the backyard. Otis was outside in a tiny fenced-in area with no shade and no water. He was dirty and his hair was all matted and dreaded. On his last day on the job Rex decided he had to rescue the little guy. He grabbed him and wrapped him in a towel.and headed back to Texas. He looked old but when they went to the vet it turned out that he was just a puppy. Rex and him have been best friends ever since.
Lucky is the youngest one of the pack. Rex's mom rescued him from the side of the highway in Liberty while she was working out there. They tried to find him a good home but couldn't so they kept him. Most of the time he stays with Rex's parents but sometimes, if I'm lucky, he stays with us.

My Name Is Mud
Rex and I watched Mud with Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon tonight. It was really good. It's about two boys who befriend a homeless man on an island along the mighty Mississippi River in Arkansas . The movie focuses on one of the boys as he tries to understand life and what it really means to love. I felt really bad for the kid a few times but as an adult I know that it's just life and it's hard but it does get better. I definitely recommend you watch it.

I Found Our Future Bed
Today I met my sister at IKEA after work to help her get new furniture for her new place. While there I found the perfect bed frame for Rex and I. Lately we've been talking about getting a new mattress so why not get a new frame too. Best part is the bed has drawers underneath it that you can slide out. It's meant for storage but I want to use them as dog beds. I just have to make a dog bed that fits perfectly in the drawer so the dogs can lay down next to us without actually being on the bed. It's similar to something I saw on Pinterest. I'm really excited about it. I haven't been sleeping well lately.

Mangos
I love them. They're my absolute favorite fruit. When my grandpa (on my moms side) was alive he would always bring me a case of mangos because he knew I loved them. Now my grandma gives me mangos any chance she gets. When my uncle came to fix my car yesterday my grandma sent him with two mangos. They were perfectly ripe and so delicious. Thank you Ea! Love you!!

My Uncle The Mechanic
My uncle Kenny never goes anywhere without his gun and his tools. My car was giving me some trouble this past week so I asked him to come out and see if he could fix it. It was the alternator so we went to auto zone and picked up a new one. Then went back to my apartment to install the new one. It took about and hour but it was so unbearably hot that it felt like three. Finally we got everything fixed and Sheila is back in action and running smoothly

Flashback Friday
Continuing on from last week...
I met my friend Sela in seventh grade. When all the other girls hated me she was the only one who got to know me and became a true friend. She has a twin and an older sister and they are all beautiful. I think that's why she was so nice to me. The other girls were jealous of me but she wasn't. She wanted to be my friend because she thought I was "really skinny and pretty like her". I'm so blessed that she was that kind of girl. If she hadn't become my friend who knows how I would be today.
After seventh grade we never went to school together again but we still managed to talk all the time and hangout as often as we could. For high school she went to a public school and became friends with a group of guys in a band called Obleek. As soon as I met these guys I fell in love with all of them. They were older, nice, funny, cute, and in a band! My first real punk rock show was with these guys. I even followed them to San Antonio to see them play one time. My other best friend from eight grade, Katy, started dating the guitarist of the band so we hung out with them every weekend. We would go over to Joey's house all the time and hangout outside or watch them practice at their studio. Those were the best times of my teenage years. I thank god for putting those people in my life.
